St. Helena Unified School District

Budget Facts & Figures

BUDGET FACTS & FIGURES

St. Helena Unified operates with an annual budget of approximately $49.7 million. The General Fund serves as the primary financial vehicle for the district’s instructional programs, educational support, and general operations, while also accounting for categorical projects funded by federal, state, county, and local sources.

The majority of the district's funding is derived from local property taxes, which are allocated to the Unrestricted General Fund. In contrast, the Restricted General Fund manages specialized revenue from state and federal governments as well as local agencies. These restricted resources include funding for special education, State Lottery revenue under Proposition 20, and Title I, II, II,  & IV.

Remaining auxiliary funds are dedicated to self-insurance and the capital improvement projects of the district, including construction and maintenance of facilities. Funding for these infrastructure projects is provided through a combination of the State’s Office of Public School Construction, local developer fees, and anything the district can set-aside or save from the General Fund.
