All minor students under 18 years of age employed in the state of California must have a permit to work.
Prior to being issued a work permit, the student obtains an application for a work permit (available below). The application must be completed by the minor, the parent/caregiver and the prospective employer. The completed and signed application is then delivered to Ms. Carr at the St. Helena High School Main Office. Ms. Carr issues the final permit.
Between June 27 and July 22, 2022, work permits may be obtained from Ms. Erica Madrigal, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of the St. Helena Unified School District. Ms. Madrigal's office is located at 465 Main Street, St. Helena.
Permits issued during the school year expire five (5) days after the opening of the next succeeding school year and must be renewed if the student continues to work for the same employer.
