Positive Behavior and Intervention Systems (PBIS)
In order to further build a healthy school culture, RLS has also implemented PBIS (Positive Behavior and Intervention Systems) for the 2014-15 school year.
PBIS is a systems approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture needed to meet our cultural goals. It applies a three-tiered system of support to enhance the school’s capacity to effectively educate all students.
In the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years, the staff has
- engaged in school-wide trainings,
- has access to and utilizes the corresponding data-collection system, SWIS,
- works with a consultant to implement the best practices in PBIS,
- and engages a small group of staff members as a core PBIS committee to maintain forward momentum of the work at our site.
